Almost all private business firms, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations are suitable for student
intern positions.  All organizations interested in participating in the Internship in Management (MGMT 575)
Program are requested to contact
Cynthia Schriehans (Internship Advisor) or the Inland Empire Center for
Entrepreneurship.  Every attempt is made to match students interests and capabilities with the needs of the
host business/organization.
Student Information
The Department of Management, the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship, and your campus
Internship Faculty Advisor oversee internship activities.  The internship experience is designed to bridge
the gap between academic studies and practical” real-world” work applications.  Many internships pay
while others do not.  Internship organizations include major corporations, small businesses, nonprofit
organizations, assistance programs, financial institutions, and community services.

The internship programs are of mutual benefit to students, employers, and the University.  For students, the
internship provides realistic exposure to business environments where professional obligations apply
classroom obtained skills.  The internship benefits businesses by allocating provisions for fresh motivated
part-time employees, new developments, concepts, and methods.  The University is enhanced by the
addition of “real-world” components to its curriculum and heightens community recognition.

Enrollment in an internship course (MGMT 575) is open to all undergraduate and graduate majors within
the College of Business and Public Administration. However, MGMT 575 is a restricted course; which
means, pre-approval is needed from the Management internship faculty advisor before admission is
granted.

Per quarter, successful completion of MGMT 575 requires the student to work approximately 150-300
internship hours (number of hours are at the discretion of your advisor) in a public or private industry.  The
industry must be streamlined to the student’s specific concentration of study.

These projects enhance resumes, provide work experience, develop job skills, provide
course credit, and add flexibility to curriculum.
