CSUSB--Palm Desert offers a degree in Business Administration with a Management Concentration.  
This curriculum is designed to prepare students for careers in business management.  The following
information overviews the requirements and provides a two-year upper-division schedule of course
offerings  
To complete the curriculum in a two year cycle (six quarters) students will need to enroll in
THREE courses (12 units) every quarter consecutively.  However, during one quarter of the two-year cycle,
students will need to complete FOUR courses (16 units) or choose to enroll in one summer school session.
Students are advised to schedule their courses accordingly using the Two-year Schedule of Classes
(linked on the page header) as their guide.

To earn a Baccalaureate Degree in Business Administration with a Management Concentration, students
must meet all lower division business administration course requirements.  Students must also successfully
complete MGMT 306: Expository Writing for Administration—4 units (offered at PDC online) and the
required upper division capstone courses. Business degree requirements are inclusive of the following
upper division business core courses (36 units):

   MGMT 302: Management and Organizational Behavior—4 units
   SCM 304: Principles of Operations Management—4 units
   MRKT 305: Marketing Principles—4 units
   INFO 309: Information Management—4 units
   FIN 313: Business Finance—4 units
   FIN 314: Corporate Financial Management—4 units
   PA 315: Government Business Relations—4 units
   MGMT 330: Legal Environment of Business—4 units
   MGMT 490: Strategic Management—4 units
   MGMT 998: Portfolio Assessment—0 units

All core courses are offered once each academic year at the Palm Desert Campus.

In addition to the upper division core courses, to meet degree requirements, business management
students must complete an additional twenty-four units of study from management concentration and
specialty courses. Specialty courses are offered as outlined on the Two-year Course Schedule.   The
following concentration courses (12 units) are required for all management students:

   MGMT 455: Human Resource Management—4 units

Or, 12 units of the twenty-four must be selected from the following Human Resource Specialty Area (3
courses):

   MGMT 456: Developing an Effective Workforce—4 units (Formerly "Psychology of HR)
   MGMT 457: Industrial and Labor Relations--4 units
   MGMT 458: Fair Employment Practices--4 units
   PA       462: Public Personnel Administration--4 units
   MGMT 459: Work Group Management--4 units
   MGMT 575: Internship in Management—4 units
   MGMT 590: Seminar in Management—4 units
   MGMT 595: Independent Study in Management--2 or 4 units

Independent study projects (MGMT 595)  can be created to substitute for any of the specialty courses
listed in the above paragraphs.  Independent study projects cannot be used to substitute for core business
courses.

Management 515, 575, and 595 require approval from your department advisor for enrollment. Students
work independently and/or in a “real world” business environment. These courses are offered in a non-
traditional format.  They incorporate a hybrid distance learning structure that implements a Blackboard
Platform. If you are interested in taking 515, 575, or 595, contact your department advisor to discuss
